Temperament en experiment

never a dull moment zullen we maar zeggen.

Een groot verschil in temperament en vooral energie.

A big difference in temperament and especially energy.

Springen, dansen, vliegen en natuurlijk pesten zijn Tuur's grootste hobby's. Dat hij vervolgens zeer regelmatig ongenadig op zijn donder krijgt, kan dan niet uitblijven.

Jumping, dancing, flying and of course teasing are Tuur's biggest hobby's. That he, as a result of all this, very regularly gets a beating, is unavoidable.

Niet dat hij daar mee zit overigens....

Not that it bothers him....

Geen wonder dat hij op de hondenschool tegenwoordig in de Raufergruppe zit, een groep honden, reu en teef, die bij sommige soort/seksegenoten (net zo dominant en vaak ook groot) toch echt vindt dat maar meteen uitgemaakt moet worden wie nu werkelijk de baas is.
No wonder that at dogschool he is in the "Raufergruppe" (let's say the rascalgroup) at present, a group of dogs, male and female, who thinks that, with some other dogs (as dominant and often as big as they themselves are) they immediately have to determine who really is the boss.

Want, voor de duidelijkheid, Tuur kan met heel veel honden heel goed overweg, het probleem zit hem in de honden die zichzelf net zo belangrijk vinden als Tuur zichzelf vindt.

Because, to be absolutely clear, Tuur is very good with many dogs, the problems are those dogs (males) who find themselves as important as Tuur finds himself.

Bedoeling van deze groep is dat de honden leren dat ze een ander weliswaar niet hoeven te mogen, maar hem of haar dan gewoon negeren, dus accepteren.

En ik moet zeggen, ondanks dat we pas twee lessen hebben gehad, het werkt!

Voornaamste crux van dit alles: baasje blijft rustig, ontspannen en soeverein.
Makkelijk gezegd, moeilijk gedaan, want honden zoals Tuur merken onmiddellijk wanneer die rust en ontspanning slechts een pose zijn...

Aim of this group is that the dogs don't have to like each other but should accept or ignore one another.

And I must say, despite the fact that we just had only two lessons, it works!

Most important of all: the owner stays calm, relaxt and sovereign.

Easy said, hard to do, then dogs like Tuur notice right away when this calmness and relaxation are just a pose...

Op de cursus wordt gewerkt met afleidingsmanoeuvres, zoals het favoriete speeltje.

Tuur houdt erg van voetballen (echt waar! nog steeds)

In class we work with diversionary tactics, such as favorite toys.

Tuur loves football/soccer (he really does! still)

Helaas werkte dat niet, vooral niet toen zijn grootste rivaal, een Akita, dacht de bal mee te moeten nemen. Maar met een paar brokjes (vreetzak!) was de situatie snel weer onder controle en konden ze elkaar weer voorbij lopen zonder ook maar een grauw of snauw of getrek aan de lijn.

Unfortunately it didn't work, especially not as his biggest rival, an Akita, thought he could take the ball. But with some treats (pig!) the situation was under control again in no time and both dogs could pass each other without any growling whatsoever or pulling at leashes.

Het experiment waar ik het in de titel over heb slaat op mijn oefenen met de nieuwe camera en telelens. Grootste probleem is de bewegende beelden scherp te krijgen. Soms is ook de kleur van de foto ineens heel anders.
